About Grace Community Church

Our mission is to proclaim Christ and to serve Marinette with His love.

What We Believe

We are a Bible centered church, baptist in heritage, premillenial, pretribulational, dispensational in theology, missions focused and Gospel centered.

Leadership

James J. Burke is the senior pastor of Grace Community Church (Marinette, WI) and the author of the Fireproof Commentaries series. The series opens with Building a Fireproof Church (1 Corinthians), blending pastoral warmth with careful, text-driven exposition. James and his wife Roxanne have been married 25 years and are happy homesteaders in the wilds of Wisconsin.

Pastor Tom MacKay is the Assistant Pastor at our church. He has 30 years of pastoral experience. Pastor Tom enjoys expository preaching and teaching, verse by verse, through the books of the Bible. He has been married to his wife and ministry partner, Francine, for 50 years. Together they have three adult children and seven grandchildren.

Our Story

Our church began with Swedish immigrants in the 1800s. They came Marinette and started up the church, and they called it "The Swedish Baptist Church".The services were in Swedish at that time. Over time, as the church grew and English was spoken, the name was changed to Bethel Baptist, which it remained as such until the turn of this century, when the congregation had a desire to become non-denominational. It was then legally changed to "Grace Community Church". The focus still remains as it did in the 1800s, and that is to share the gospel, teach God's Word as truth, and to reach our community.
